First training course for volunonteers

From March 13 to 15, 2026, the first training course for volunteers who will be involved in monitoring and suirveillance of the Kentish plover nests was held at Casale della Giannella.

The training included a theoretical session that covered the ecology and biology of the Kentish plover, as well as the activities required for monitoring and protecting the nests. The practical session took place on the beach of the RNS Duna Feniglia, a Project site, where monitoring sessions were simulated on the individuals present with a discussion of the intervention methods for nest protection.

Fifty-six people participated in this first course, and these trained volunteers will in turn conduct specific training sessions in the areas where they operate.
